The one and the other

Oh dear you should know by now

Who’s the one
And who’s the other
Cause the one thinks she’s the one
And the other she’s the one
And the other thinks
The one is the other
And the one who’s the one
Acts like the other
When she should act like the one

Oh dear you should know

You’ve got the one
On a seesaw
And the other saw you
And then saw the sea
And preferred the sea
(And the one on the seesaw
Is up and down
At the rhythm of your feet)

Oh dear you should

Is that promise worth keeping I wonder
Don’t you wonder I bet you do
But you’re there
For the other, who doesn’t care
Who left you once
And will do it now
And would do it again
And again
With a promise in your mouth
With the fear in your eyes

This is all a good excuse
To put this off
To turn the one off
To test the one
To make sure
That she’s the one
Who won’t let you down

Oh dear

But you can’t turn her off
You know that for sure
Cause she burns inside
And the sea can’t put out that fire
It can’t

Oh

Who grows horns
Who grows sorrows in the heart
Who loves you
Who does not
Who do you love
You love not

(ok I know this probably sucks but I made an attempt at writing poetry -and in English)

the open ocean is just not
enough to put off the fire because
it's salty and makes the wounds
hurt even more
the only one who knows
who's the one or the other
doesn't really really know
the one here
the other there
the other today
the one tomorrow
the result of the equation?
1/2 or 2x1
either the person in charge is split in two
or the one and the other share the same room
